Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Seems like they're closing down Arbroath in instalments. More jobs gone today.

More gone from Arbroath today. Looks like they're closing down the plant piece by piece

Prediction for Arbroath !! Manufacturing and machining work relocated to Singapore, Engineering Technology Design and Core groups a reduction in staff and all relocated to Aberdeen, Singapore and some to Carrollton. Cheaper Singapore labour rate and high investment in the Singapore plant from both Halliburton and I'm sure Singapore Authorities to close them, Ha, sounds like we've given the Singaporean workforce a good grounding and it's their time now to take the work. Anyone agree ?

If there is any work it will be going to Singapore. We are only doing what's left to do then, end of.

This is the lowest level of work i have ever seen at the Arbroath plant. Surely it's only a matter of time before we're no longer a viable manufacturing site.

Be surprised if there's anything left to divest at this rate

At this rate there will be nothing left to divest for any deal to happen

To far down the road to turn back now. The workers have been let down badly. To many time wasting meetings discussing nonsense, trying to justify jobs for the boys. Sad sad people !

These top people at halliburton do not have any respect for the working man or there family's the only thing that worry them is that the deal goes through to line there own pockets and forget about any 1 else let's see the major share holders vote them out on the next results what's so bad with this so called top people they even pay off apprentice that says it all

Let's make staff with 10+ years service redundant over the phone. That sure sounds like "the dignity & respect they deserve"

I hope Dave Lesar and Jeff Miller get the dignity and respect they deserve as they're being raped up the arsehole

lets keep the staff who are experienced, skilled & QUALIFIED for what they do. Shop floor and office. The Arbroath jobs for the boys mentality has to stop before it's too late. Quickest way to stop it? New management. Use this downturn as an opportunity to get rid of the cliques and start running this plant properly

There simply isn't a hope in hell of that happening. Everyone knows who's gonna be kept. PGLs Scotland and Cuppy squad and the Halliburton Pets " ach we canny get rid of old ** he's a braw lad". Many good machinists will be sacrifced before the lazy old one trick ponies and buddies go.

When the next round of redundancies come , , let's try and keep the people who can do the job they were employed to do. No family and friends or old golf buddies act . Let's follow the correct matrix last in first out and Skills. Keep the people who can do the job and get rid of the people who talk the job.

Get off the guys back. He runs the cleanest quietest machine shop in the whole industry. And the local scrap merchants love him

To the person talking about support functions. In case you haven't noticed there's no HCT parts being made, assembled or wells being drilled and completed anywhere and therefore nothing to support at the present. That's not to say there aren't any wells waiting completion, the problem then is that when they come along there won't be any skills left and it's a a big learning curve that takes time. Halliburton and oil service companies planning well again for the future in letting employees go instead of reorganising, retraining, keeping the best knowledge and preparing for the future. At least the shareholders and executives will be happy for a bit.

How do they expect the plant to function properly and effectively without the support jobs lost this week?

Grab yourselves one of those spanky new floor cleaners and get busy, because there ain't much else to do. Time call in those favours and sidle up to anyone that might save your ass. It's crunch time.

Why moan now? Been to easy for to long, jobs for pals who are not up to scratch, yes folk and people happy to get a big easy pay check and not say anything ie BBP tick boxes and forget about the real thing ie COPQ. I don't think it's going to be so easy outside hHalluburton Arbroath.

Totally agree, obviously the Arbroath management are not following the big Dave directive.

No honesty or transparency to this at all. We're being treated like 2nd class citizens, with non of the dignity or respect the Big Dave promised us. We are human beings (well most of us), and should be treated accordingly.
