Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

I got my notice as well today.

Termination date is in May and I'll get 3 weeks' pay. The fact that the management did not decide to announce this new wave of layoff is disgusting.

I talked yo my HR specialist and was told that Qualcomm is only obligated to pay either 2 months of notice or 2 months of pay, the 3 weeks I got were because they are doing everything the "Qualcomm Way".

I joined the company straight out of school just 2 years back. :(

I was a part of RIF back in Nov. If there is a WARN notice (when company layoff 50+ employees; and the case back in Nov 15) only then by law they are supposed to give a 60 day notice (essentially you're getting 2 month notice with pay - as you're still employed) + 2 weeks pay/year of service(for non Senior folks, it's lower I guess) + unused vacation(cashed out) + health benefit(for non married folks it's lower I guess).

Wow...a new low, not supportive, and yet another reason to realize QC has changed so much and is not a very desirable place to work

It was not 3 weeks for every year - it was 2 weeks for every year, an extra 2 weeks pay, and an $1100 stipend to go toward health care of your choice. I was there 21 years. By the time they took out taxes, I got barely 1/2 of the package. Maybe it was 3 weeks the higher up the food chain you were.....who knows.

OP: HR dragon lady is full of crap. They're obligated for 2 months of pay and continued benefits, regardless of whether you work or don't work. The 3 extra weeks pay as severance GTFA package is the "carrot" so they can beat you with the stick for another 2 months. And THAT'S the Qualcomm way!

It looks like the very generous packages offered in November 2015 are long gone. Some people that I know walked away with 6-12 months cash salary in addition to the two months notice.

So they're not doing the 3 weeks for every year of service thing anymore? Did they at least let you vest the 5/20 RSU?
