Thread regarding McKesson Corp. layoffs

Next Week Layoffs (Week of March 21st 2016 - What about April 2016?)

Are we done yet or should we expect layoffs next week too? Also, I am assuming no layoffs in April... Or, am I wrong. Also, why so little media coverage here?

I am curious why these depts were eliminated? Were they not imperative to the business? I'm not familiar with the intricacies here...but I am concerned about the decisions being made regarding the RIF, of how it may negatively affect the entire corporation. I know of several departments that are overstaffed in my building (HR being one) everyone has an assistant to run their errands or do the work they don't "wanna" do..and maintenance and sales. The Good ole' boys that keep liquor and cigars in their desks. Not to mention the mysterious work-at-home folks. Way overpaid. Way underworked. While my particular position is expected to do the workload of 3+ people. My office is rampant with racism, favoritism and discrimination. I already considered leaving before the RIF was announced. If all of these issues take place at my building alone, I can only imagine the others. Never worked at a place like this before and I have many years under my belt. And so it goes....

This is a really good question. It almost seems like there's an intentional blackout about the yearly layoffs at Mckesson. One could go so far as to say it's a conspiracy.

Media Coverage: The narrative is that fat cat healthcare sector companies are rolling in money. Layoffs and stock downgrades and outlook revisions hurt that narrative. Why would the media want to report this? The media is in an awkward position now. It's not just McKesson.... UNH is having some issues with the full rollout of the ACA... and many others.

Yes. 2 business units at the corporate level was eliminated on Monday and the fallout from there will see more next week. Office of the CTO eliminated 2 areas: Enterprise Quality Improvement and Technology Services. Eliminated, not reduced
