I was part of the layoffs in January, a 5 minute phone call where we were put on mute. We couldn't ask questions and in an instant 12 years of loyalty was gone. I never received a phone call or email from my Manager, the person that actually hired me years ago. McKesson has no compassion at all and it is really sad because I loved my job and the people I worked with and for. And as of today March 22 I still have had no communication from the person who was my manager. I would NEVER work for McKesson again. I realize lay offs happen but after years of dedicated service it should have been more personable.

Yet the CEO still makes HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS PER YEAR! He could have personally paid the fines and his great great great grandchildren will never have to work a day in their lives. Greed at its worst.
I agree, I had 18 1/2 years and they threw me away like trash!
I just got laid off as well as I was in upper management. We were given an actual script and literally told a list of phrases we could or could not say. Don't be too upset at yr boss. This was pretty horrible and unnecessarily drawn out. They did a horrible job at managing this especially when they announce 1000 jobs created in Texas.
Oh I understand the legal stuff but there is no reason the Manager can't reach out after all is said and done. We were supposedly a "family", ha! I was more hurt by the lack of compassion than being laid off. I am a smart person and I did a damn good job for them. It is my clients and my co partner on my team that suffered my loss more than me.
Every HR action in MCK is dictated / governed by a (large) team of lawyers. The layoff process has been whittled down to the least common denominator by a legal team who has to justify its existence. At that point, like a lot of "legal" things, people are just pieces that have to be managed with minimal or no complications.
Layoff-ers have a prepared script to deliver to the layoff-ees that must be adhered to.
That's not to excuse MCK or anyone. But MCK (and, I assume, other corps) are so litigation-phobic, the individual is reduced to an "action"...which de-personalizes the process 100%. Therefore, you won't hear "Good working with you" (not from any management) or "Sorry", etc.
Good luck to you. Just remember, it's not you...it's MCK/ICARE/ILEAD/ILAWYER/IHAMMERGREN'SBONUS.
Keep on paddling my friend
Sorry to hear this - it is too bad that we live in times like this
Good luck to you
