i am 53 with 18 years of net credit service. "if" they were to offer a buyout package of say a 3/3 or 4/4 I would consider taking it.

However what is the difference between retiring with 20 years and 55+ as opposed to waiting till I get my 30 years in the company.

Or is there really no difference other than I can not collect my 401k till 59 1/2 and adding to my pension/401k.

I don't think any years will be added. It looks like $40k plus $10k and $2200 for every year worked up to 40 years. Many will take it.

I heard from a coworker that management received an email last week about an EISP offer. I'm not sure of the details, but I'm considering it.

I would say to expect to see two offered. Probably July/August and October/November. Hopefully they will do a 4/4 or better. Might as well as they will spend the same amount of money in the long run. Offer me a 5/5 and I will certainly take it. That puts me at retirement age and would do the same for a lot more. The company could easily spend 2 to 3 billion and get 5000 to 6000 people off the books by years end. Most all of them like me...in the protected group.

They can tack that expense onto the sell price of Wireline.
