Lots of disgruntled losers venting here!!!!

Obviously lots of disgruntled losers commenting on this site! What happened to you has to be someone else's fault! Blame the company, blame management, blame it on the culture! That is what this site is for so enjoy! Vent, vent, vent!

Good companies don't have any "disgruntled losers" because they know that sometimes things just don't workout and it can be as simple as a poor fit. However, ConocoPhillips likes to setup employees and then neglect to keep promises on financial rewards. This breeds the negative feedback observed by the OP. Wise companies just don't do this because they don't want the begative reputation.

I agree with the last poster’s comment about “reflection of how employees are treated": Take a look at our peer competitors' comment-boards on this site. You would be hard pressed to find another peer competitor’s bulletin board that has as many down-trodden and bitter comments. Whether or not the people who frequent this chat room are bored, lazy, sore losers, disgruntled, hard workers, unfortunate....whatever.....the level of disgruntlement at COP is shocking and appalling!

It’s merely my opinion that COP no longer exists as an oil company that is in the business of successfully finding and producing oil and gas. It is a shell-company that exists merely to generate large sums of money for the 1% who have the knowledge and resources to “game the system” and generate large payouts for said 1%. You and I are merely pawns in the chess game. The sad thing is that both Conoco and Phillips were proud, fighting businesses that survived “The Game”, and left a trail of extremely intelligent and proud hard workers in their wake. When I hired-on, I was so proud to be a part of the Phillips Petroleum history and success. Today, be it the circumstances of inequitable fortune company’s “way of doing business”, or actual management failures attributable to COP, there is no room for “company pride”. I do, gratefully, maintain my personal integrity and the knowledge that I did my best and am proud for the success my colleagues and I worked to deliver up until....oh.....about 4 years ago (that’s my guesstimate for when the company went to he*l in a hand basket”. Sad. I should have known better than to continue to believe in this sham of a company. I wish you all the best, because quite honestly, there are a lot of great people who have passed through the portals of Conoco and Phillips. If you choose to continue to remain and make the best of it.....well, good ruck!

Response to the “sucking wells” comment: Wow! conocophillips has oil wells!? I didn’t know that...I thought they had sold off all wells and assets that produced even mediocre oil/profits, in order to continue supporting their Long Term (4 week look ahead) Vision.

You are the first person to call me a loser - congratulations. I think I will continue with consulting and entrepreneurship and leave the government (ConnocoPhillips) job to the better (suck job) performer.

Just as expected! It was the company's fault, mafia culture's fault, management's fault, nothing they could do to change the fact that they are a loser! You can't fix stupid! Doesn't matter how many hours a day you work, if you ain't got it you ain't gonna make it it! Do so more venting a then go find a government job. You can't handle responsibility and accountability!

I think what people are saying is that performance at ConnocoPhillips has nothing to do with job performance or networking but everything to do with belonging to a mafia, looking like your boss, keeping your mouth shut, looking the other way, spending the majority of your time stabbing your coworkers and anything else except job performance. When you have been settup and realise that NOTHING you could have done could have changed the outcome, including those twelve hour days five days a week in the office - then come back and say "it was your fault, take responsibility." However you can't because this company sucks so bad it sucks better than their wells ...
