Hmm, not good times

But good times for company that many predicted would die. look at ATI versus Nvidia!

Sadly when you are a business man or a SJ state graduate it is more likely than not you may work hard have some politics savy, but seriously lacking in true brilliance and vision needed at the inflection point.

Sadly BK (and his predecessor) have relied extensively on external "experts" from Bain and other consulting firms to guide Intel's "strategy" instead of cultivating real strategic leadership internally.

So often I found that smart people, even those recently hired from outside, were ignored in favor or highly paid external consulting offering (made up) market model data and "expertise."

Why did we sell xScale while continue to invest billions in Itanium, Larabee and others. The x86 management is so blinded by their success they simply won't compete from within.

BK said he wanted to re-event the company while still strong. So he invest in wishful things like NAND and IoT versus the know huge volume in ARM processors. He simply can't accept that profit margins may go down but Intel could survive. ARM is the future even in IoT, not x86.

Intel management needs to decide what it is an expert in?

Server/Cloud: Embrace the best solution it might not be x86

Client: Might not be a product that has to work in Server and IoT.

IoT: Get real that is everyone 's wet dream

Memory: Commodity, you can make money look at Samsung, but be ready to be like samsung. TMG is no Samsung!

Drones/Smartwatches/Realsense/Charging: Yeah what this is our version of the microscope and camera to sell PCs from a decade ago.

Better to go out in style like Kodak, DEC, Burroughs, Sperry, SUN, and many others versus while you are strong figure out how to stay in business. But the short future vision of the SJ graduate is goose the stock goose the stock. How about a real strategy, LOL

This is like the US steel industry deciding not to compete against the mini mills at lower cost markets.... and then semi-attractive markets... and then before you know it their core markets are under serious threat. ARM is doing the same thing to Intel, they just haven't reached the data center yet.
