Within a year you will have no marketable skills since there is very little new engineering. New-g will be built on existing stuff. No company has a monopoly on the hardware technology today, so there is no upside to how much you can grow along with these companies. Just see what skills are being sought after in job boards and you can clearly see where your career should be headed.

Intel has better opportunities than Currycomm.

Both are equally bad. If you have to pick between the 2 pick Intel. You have more opportunities there if it doesn't work out.

I am at Intel. There is a lot of arrogant people in my team. Add to that my manager who is not able to be a leader. I will GTFO asap!

@MUK

very well said!

you are young and can take risk. Try small companies but be very cautious with where their funding comes from. A small company will appreciate you more and if they have a strong financial resource, then you are in business, my friend!

So true what folks have said here. OP you should focus on the small group/manager and technical domain you are going to. Both company are in deep doodoo future prospect and culture wise. But you don't have to worry about future prospects much. Young folks will be OK as long as you don't slack off much. The situation @sum is in is not unusual because the are way too many managers/directors at Q who don't know sht and don't do sht so they have nothing to mentor you about. Pick the one that'll jettison you to a better position in job market a few years down the road. Only youself know better your particular situation.

....forget about the name of the company......it is preferable to be in bay area.... of course the group in which you are going into ...you should find about the group and boss as they will determine your future

apart from that both companies are in deep sh--.....

Dude you're asking whether to pick a mountain of poo or a sea of urine.

Try to find another company. And pick intel IMO just so you can stay in the bay area that is.

I work at Qcom and from what I have heard, Intel is as bad as Qcom.

dont join qcom, there is nothing new to learn. its mostly integration work and re-engineering of same things.

I chose Qualcomm over some other employer... I regret... In 6 months I have met my manager twice.. No mentor.. I just sit behind people and see what they are doing.. No Documents.. I think QCOM employees are really unhappy with their jobs... PLEASE LISTEN TO ME AND GO TO INTEL... it may not be good BUT Qualcomm is very bad.. I am thinking about paying back my sign on bonus and moving back.. Intel said they will hire me..
