Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Quest Mistake

The Quest acquisition was a mistake from day 1.

Swainson had no intention of trying to grow a software business at Dell any more than he was able to grow the software business at CA.

It's a shame that his incompetence and the incompetence of his minions (all former CA people) have brought the Quest portfolio to the edge of extinction.

There is a faint glimmer of hope that a new company can turn it around but people are running out the door so it's more likely that the light at the end of the tunnel is actually a train.

Michael Dell took his company private so he wouldn't have to report results - which means he no longer has to bear the criticism of being a terrible CEO. Private or not, he's still awful. Swainson was just a highly paid lackey. But he did bring on ridiculous people from CA. The whole DSG operation was run into the ground - which is why it sold to Franciso partners for 50 cents on the dollar.

Swainson is a tool and the majority of management will sell you pipe dreams daily. Numbers don't lie. I won't be surprised if Mr Dell loses even more $ after the acquisition. The question is how much damage and how many lives will he ruin along the way.
