The only thing Marathon's safety culture is known for is that it is headed by aperson whose photo appears on line with his church while at work he harbors grudges that go back at least a decade. Until incompetence like this is ferreted out, no amount of laying off competent people will turn the company around. A complete makeover, in HES, starting at the top, in HR, ditto, and the executive suite (ditto times four, especially the top dog as well as the 'leader' of the hodgepodge group of cats and dogs that includes HES) is required if Marathon is ever to become again the proud company it once was.
Got the smack down on your last rumor mill about the nothing that happened last Friday, so pathetically trying to redeem a rumor here? Marathon Oil is known across the industry for its strong safety culture.
So...Eeeeeh Try Again
I have seen it all. A guy gets killed and it isn't counted in the org's statistics??? They can spin anything in their favor.
I see town halls where we're at 100 percent and know those facts are inaccurate. Amazing how the top execs lie. Numbers don't lie.
I worked in field operations at Marathon for a few years and find it hard to believe the safety culture is "poor". This is due to the fact you could never get out of the office long enough to do anything because of meetings upon meetings upon meetings.......I believe the safety culture is excellent because no one could leave the office long enough to do anything. Again we stress the issues about poor management.
Good smackdown likely from someone sitting in Houston that doesn't have a clue about field operations.
This kind of stuff is usually from disgruntled employees or contractors and there's "more to the story."
