Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Poor decision to work at HAL or any o/g outfit for young engineering talent

Always aim for long term career plans. HAL is a 2-3 year type employment at best even for a young graduate engineer especially from a public 'STATE' school. Keep in mind uncle Dave is just a bean counter.

You will spend most of your time doing non-engineering tasks. Look for a company where engineers are the VIP's and management is considered expendable. Halliburton is just f-ed up. I mean how is it that most engineering positions are considered as support roles?

Accountants care only about quarterly reports and investors. Engineers at least try to care about technology integration and efficiency.

They will use you up. And spit you out when cost is the bottom line.

Bee a mechanical engineer for just over 20 years. Moved into oil and gas 5 years ago, took up a job with Halliburton 2 years ago.

WORST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE.

Seems Halliburton have fun out of other companies to take over. Maybe they should try innovating their own technology, growing their own business rather than getting bigger on the back of mergers and acquisitions and gaining technology that way, rather than inventing it themselves
