Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

The new Toyota HQ in Plano opposite Frito HQ is massive and beautiful

There is going to be a mass exodus from the old boy ,status quo "legends in our own minds" culture of Frito HQ to Toyota, especially among the young people. The job market is to good right now in Plano to settle for nothing, which is pretty much what Frito is offering.

The open space plan is just another example of brilliant decision making by the out of touch dinosaurs at Jurassic Park...just look on the web...you'll see that this concept was tried years ago by lots of companies and it failed..it just alienated the employees ...but..you can't tell the dinosaurs anything

I agree with the comment about collaborative work space, there is no collaboration as people are miserable with no personal space.

The comment about staying past 5 years is true, there does seem to be to many negatives. I have been here about 4 years and see how frustrated and unhappy many of my longer tenured employees are with poor raises, no promotions, the politics...so I have decided to start looking. PepsiCo has been a good starting point but I am more than confident I can do better.

You know it's bad when the long term employees encourage the young people to leave to find something better

What kind of career can you have where the idiotic mission statement is "We sell soda."

I couldn't believe it when I saw it hanging in the cafeteria. I initially thought it was some

kind of joke. Too bad the joke is on thousands of people who depend on this lackluster

company for a living. All to the aggrandizement of Indra Annoying.

Yes - all of Pepsi is that way. Best suggestion is to get whatever money you can from them, and then move on. There's no possibility of career advancement. Raises have been cut down to virtually nothing, so when the rising cost of health care that's being passed on to the employee is taken into account, more money is actually being given back to the company. This is very important - Pepsi is discouraging insofar as employees going out and getting new skills. Management wants you to do just the few things you were hired to do years ago, and when that becomes obsolete, they want an easy excuse for laying people off.

Dying company that sells sugary crap, which people are drinking less of because of its adverse health effects. Even diet is bad, with chromosome altering high concentrations of phosphoric acid, diet or no.

The best thing for young people is to just stay 3 or 4 years and then move on to a new company for purely personal gain. Unfortunately There is nothing to be gained by staying beyond 5 years, there are to many negatives, No raises, no career path, reduced benefits, stagnant culture etc etc.

And it's a big mystery why the org health results are so bad, it can't be anything they did, something must be wrong with the survey

This is what has become of Pepsi generally - too many time wasting managers trying to maintain their headcount even when they have nothing for them to do. Management hired too many people, thinking that that was the way for them to keep their own jobs, but it just leads to having to lay people off in the long run. Those employees could have been someplace else, doing something useful, building a pension (although that's largely a thing of the past) and getting ahead. Instead all Pepsi is, is just walking around, making it look like you're doing something. Then managers come to employees to ask what they're working on, after which the managers will tell their bosses that it was their idea.

Mgmt doesn't even try, take all the combined salaries and bonuses and whatever else they get and this is what Frito gets in return ? A stale status quo operation, great job.

It's a combination of they don't want to change and they don't know how to change, so they maintain the status quo, which is easy and comfortable for them, but the downside is that it's driving employee dissatisfaction and turnover

The bathrooms in the Frito building are gross, guess there is no money to clean them properly or remodel them when PepsiCo takes all the money so they can pay Indra $26,000,000
