This is a great example of the Watson bullsh*t. If you read the article, the reality comes out. The truly innovative things this guy did were using good old Python. All Watson is contributing here is a speech to text transcription. Wow, OMG! Lots of software can do that. And, he says that part "leaves a lot to be desired". IBM is flooding the media with lies or gross exaggerations about Watson, as well as the misleading, expensive TV ads (no, it doesn't really talk, but even Siri and Cortana can). You'd think that hackers are quaking in their boots (they are not), disease is a thing of the past (it's not). Oh wait, it can come up with some recipes (that suck). At least the captain of the Titanic had the courage to send a distress signal. IBM is telling the passengers, it's stockholders and customers, that all is well while the ship sinks, and its employees are down in the engine compartment toiling away and awaiting their fate. Never been in a more demoralized workplace. Man up, IBM board, and hire a new CEO!
