Was at GE for awhile. It is a very short sighted, political company.

Management changes roles every 2.5-3 years and the strategy changes. Projects are cancelled, regardless of investment level or stage. Businesses are sold. Manufacturing is out-sourced or moved off shore. Costs and people are cut.

IF you make the cut you are told to do more with less.

I am shocked their customers do not see through this and start to question why they are paying next year's price for last years technology. Service and support is premium priced and the product delivered is atrocious. GE will do anything to keep service customers so they can keep their hand in their wallet.

They scrounge every nickel to make the dividend to maintain share price, but their days as industrial and technological leadership are over.

My advice, even to younger workers trying to build a resume...Do not take the job unless you can afford to lose it.

So true, when talking to a GE Money Manager or its Management Hustlers. It's like talking to an unaccompanied minor at the airport. Where is your mommy or daddy? Do you know where you are? How about this one, can you tell me where you are going?

It never amazing me as to how you can ask about the company and get layoff a week or so later or all of the sudden your performance development is under review! Don't ask don't tell is the motto around Westway ll.

GE doesn't have a single business doing good. .. the management needs some training. .. lay offs are evident
