That can't be a good thing.

If your a Havard MBA and an Indian with no understanding of culture.....you will fit right in BCG. You will have some fun watching the Indians (dot not feather) interact with our ignorant management teams. Bring a soda and popcorn to watch the drama.
I did an externship at BCG while getting my MBA at Harvard and our project for that term was a major steel producer.....commodity prices were down and fixed assets costs were high and currency markets were stacked against the U.S......exactly what we are looking at in O&G. No one on the BCG team had a clue about the steel industry including myself. Everyone had great credentials but few had the gumption to make informed decisions to push the needle. No one spent any time in a mill to actually see the bottlenecks and challenges. So from my experience it's the blind leading the blind. They are set on project management style leadership. Using complex algorithms to scout the market for opportunities and currency trends. Our management is not engaged enough or up to date enough to give BCG boundaries and truly partner with them to make a difference imo. I was proud of BCG pointing out to Chevron that moving leadership teams every 18 months- 2 years is a critical failure. That you need a solid 5 years to just to begin to understand the complexities of systems vs. Market forces. It is the top variable in BCG's opinion for CVX lagging results. If you bounce after 2 years, you can blame failure on the old manager, your predecessor, work force, market. 7 years at a place makes it much harder to point fingers. Chevron has it last in the question of impacting buisness lol. I still believe it does today. To proud or scarred to change.
So the new corporate strategy is hakuna matata? How special.
Don't worry about BCG. A bunch of B1b visa kids walked into NMA did an exercise cost the BU a fortune to clear out deadwoods and then hey presto another bunch of deadwood moved in to vacant positions. So good they just did another exercise and the circle of life goes on. Another jigsaw puzzle of oxygen stealers goin on right now. Suck up and be that jigsaw piece.
About time the grim reaper paid a visit to DWEP....On it's way in it should ghost past ETC & ITC &San Ramon
Welcome to the bread line. Glad you were selected to join our club. You will have lots of company. Our membership is growing every month. We have alumni chapters all over the oil patch representin dozens of companies.
The first thing BCG should do at CVX is optimize the DWEP acronym and eliminate one of the letters. That consultation shouldn't cost more than a few million. An FLA (that's a TLA for "four letter acronym" is always awkward. TLAs are the way to go. Trip off the tongue, so to speak.
Awesome check six, equilibria and now BCG. Anyone else want to joint.
Thanks. I was one of the many that left earlier this month of June. Couldn't have worked out better. After 34 years with Chevron ending at PSG 24, I am turning 66 next month. I had planned to retire on my own 5 years ago on my 66th birthday. Chevron sends me off with s 1-year bonus (severance), 6 months of unemployment benefits and 6 months of subsidized COBRA medical. When all that ends, I'm walking into the Social Security office to begin my benefits. Yes, Chevron has been too good to me. In one way or another, I hope everyone leaving Chevron is able to see the positive side of not working for the company anymore and that things work out well for them going forward.
It's not a good thing. Good luck for the 40% that go.
Well, they bring in folks like BCG because the CVX management is too kind hearted to cut jobs so this way they can say it was forced upon them. Most of the managers are real good at empire building and spending money; not so much at right sizing or cutting cost. Good thing someone came up with EOI or the cuts would be much more brutal.
I cannot help but wonder how much money is being spent on BCG and the PMI group. Why did they have to create a whole group for saving money? I haven't seen this group do much except create more paperwork that has to be filled out, taking more time and money. I cannot understand why CVX has to complicate everything.
