Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Laid off last October

I was totally blindsided with the call to meet with my former boss, of all people, a guy heading off to retirement given the dirty work to do before leaving. I am with the many who post on here who suggest you would be wise to be looking. Even if you stay, you are in a cesspool. Like most of you, I was strongly recruited to join COP, performed very well, then go s---er punched by some pathetic managers (not even leaders) who kept their favorite minions with a fraction of the experience and lower performance. I'm glad my experience and education was more business operations so my skills were transferable to another industry. Over six butt busting months later I landed with a Silicon Valley company. I'm glad to be as far away from O&G as I can be. My experience was just a micro version of the horrible management at COP. The ship is going to be run into the ground. My advice, run for the hills!

Good advice. There are no guarantees in life. Sometimes those favorite minions win out. It hurts, but get up, brush yourself off; get over it, don't look back and become a favorite minion elsewhere.
