Layoffs are coming. People will know by end of September. Approximately 1500 in FSS. All departments will be affected (dev, hr, finance, sales). About 700 in FHEG. Mostly stores.

Are there even 1500 people employed at FSS?
So sad to see b&t dragged down. Worked with them a lot when I worked at an Idependent bookstore, Some of the nicest most customer friendly people ever. Now if you get stuck with a new hire good luck.
Baker & Taylor is moving some of their IT to the SS Indian consultants. It worked so well at Follett, it only makes sense to use that lesson learned and apply it at Baker and Taylor.
You know that there are going to be 1500 FSS employees let go in September. We can't stop the bleeding. Sales, purchasing, HR and technology are among the big losers.
You ruin people's lives and you just don't care. I wish you what you have done to others. Ray? Nader?
I was informed by my counterpart that Baker & Taylor recently had layoffs. Word is they let go of some IT folks. None of the individuals had fewer than 20 years with the company. Sounding like Follett is rubbing off on their newly purchased company.
Layoffs are a result of poor leadership.
Layoffs are lame
I see a pattern. There is a post warning of an upcoming event. Someone posts a strong denial. Then there is a post claiming something ridiculous designed to reduce the credibility of the original post. Last time this happened, the original post was correct.
Now I don't believe the numbers but it would make sense at the store level. How many salaried CM's are there in the company? And how many are they going to pay over 47K to make them exempt from the new overtime laws that go into effect? They will restructure them to hourly and probably reduce the role to a team lead to reduce the hourly burden. Most CM's make between 15 to 16 an hour if you break their salary down to 2000 hours a year. They work them to death for three weeks a term, three terms a year. Now they have to pay 1 1/2 for anything over 40 hrs. Think they'll pay 23$ and hour for roughly 20 hrs a week for 9 weeks? This will probably were the field cuts will be. Not to mention any ASM's left as well. And the timeframe makes sense. Right after fall rush after the fall spring adoption campaign is wrapping up. Makes sense. Hope I'm wrong.
Where are you getting this? 700 in the stores? Unlikely after the recent bloodbaths.
There aren't going to be layoffs. Nothing to back your story up. Your just trying to spread fear. A--hole.
Explain to me how FSS is going to lay off more than 100% of it's entire workforce. What are you trying to accomplish by making up bizzare scenarios that can't even occur? Maybe a magical book eating dragon will descend from the sky and just consume all of our inventory!
