That kiss a--, dictatorship management style only worked during the monopoly days. Now that they face real innovation problems they are mostly ineffective in delivering 14 and 10 nm. They broke any possible effective collaboration among groups. Bill Holt saw this coming and retired at the top.

@IJAxW4Y-1khr BK ans Sohail, they are great, if you align to their priorities which is work all day and night and do as I say.. you are good.
It was always tough work environment, but in the fairer days the salary was high enough to make up for it. Also, it used to be virtually impossible to get fired once you passed probation. Worst that could happen was CAP or redeployment. All that meant was developing your BS and powerpoint skills to a higher level to get your next internal gig. That kind of pseudo security is gone for sure, which makes the brutal day to day stress less endurable.

Once upon a time, it certainly was not a bad place to work.
Sohail and Krzanich created probably the worst Fab environment known to mankind. No work/life balance whatsoever. Management s---s because they are afraid of their own shadows. Nobody is friendly. They just want you to do their work on your free time. The management is despicable and cause a lot of havoc to employees lives.

I have had 11 different EE jobs in the last 33 years, Intel is better than some, worse than others, It depends a lot on your boss and what you actually do day to day. But alas, the industry changes so quickly even a great job with a good boss, and good pay can go to hell in a year or two.

Right on! Used to be a GPTW, but under emperor BK's regime things are pretty much as you describe.
If you are a fab person it is terrible! 7x24 ownership, on call for tool or process issue and never enough resources. The assumed uptime not close to reality so always behind.
And lastly Moore's law is really dead so there is no long career or any chance to get rich from stock doubling or anything.
Lastly management treatment is the worst it has been in decades and getting worse as expectations not aligned with physics and reality!
