Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

This is the most optimistic post about Cisco I read on this site

Seriously, I haven't read something this optimistic for a while. Little bit naive, in my opinion, though.

Cisco is far from being past it's prime time. Things are changing, and the happy go lucky days of limited competition and crazy growth are over. Yet, as we mature, things will slow down, however, our competitors will continue to have hard time catching up. We have a couple decades to go before you may say that we are past our prime time.

I used to work at Cisco, got laid off, and now work for Arista. Our numbers were OK? Sales up 37% YoY and profits easily beat street expectations. My team has more than doubled in size in the last year. Reminds me of Cisco in 1997. Oh and the snacks and drinks are better than Cisco ever had :)

A third of my team is being cut. Our boss was at least honest about it. She couldn't tell us who, but she gave us a number.

You are not going to make it a couple more years. If you keep treating LOYAL EMPLOYEES as you ARE treating them now, YOU are going to fall by the WAYSIDE. ...............and good bye to YOU ALL.

A Loyal Worker

@1qu - no traffic at &arista-networks and &juniper-networks boards here - that being said, we may assume that the hit on our side is not going to be as bad as many folks here predict.

HOWEVER, I am really concerned with so many rumors flying around here on layoffs.com - look at all traffic each of the posts gets and you'll see that a ton of folks are anxious. That's what's worries me...

Peace out...

Here is another optimistic post:

If I remember right, last year around this time there were lots of rumors on Brad Reese's blog (a.k.a the "Chocolate Boy" as someone aptly named him in one of the posts here) similar to what I have been reading on this website. People were quoting exact looking percentages or numbers for people to be laid off. Then the quarterly results were good and the company went into some sort of more targeted and silent workforce reduction mode.

There might be a layoff announcement within the next two weeks, I do not know. There probably will be. However, latest Juniper results were not bad. Even Arista numbers were OK. Cisco results might just turn out OK. So I won't be surprised if what happened last year repeats.
