Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

The worst part is always waiting....and waiting...and waiting.

Regardless of what you hear in the All Hands Meetings some small portion of all teams will be cut. We know this because history shows that it happens. If your management and team is not at your location then you probably do not have a close relationship with them, meaning you are more at risk than those who s--- up to people in SJ.

My manager has consistently been critical of my work for a little while even though the issues are things out of my control and our team does not own the tasks being complained about. This shows me that the managers have seen the writing on the wall and are trying to grow their real estate so they feel like their job is more secure also.

The best thing I have learned to do with my anxiety is to update my resume and aggressively look for other work outside of work hours. It takes a few months to find a good job because the right req may not be open immediately even if you are networking with your contacts in other places. It is also true that people who are willing to do contract work those people will find work faster - you can do contract work while looking for FT employment.

I get it that Cisco waits to share info external but productivity has almost stopped after end of year because we all are waiting to hear, once again, if we are on the list. Hopefully everyone will be notified end of this week or next week with a 2 week notice so people can move on. No need to make anyone stick around more than that.

We will all be ok. Don't forget you have great skills....now go sell yourself to someone who values you more.

You know what's depressing? The fact that 2017 will be just like 2016, and that 2018 will be just like 2017. More and more trimming, less and less benefits, more whining, more cutting... Not sure if I want to stay here any longer...

The company is losing ground, and that's never fun. You need growth to be happy, and that's gone...
