The stupid is rampant at this company.

The so-called leaders in Intel are very stupid people who have no idea what they are doing.

Listen, the number 1 complaint I heard from customers using x86 vs. ARM was complexity. They were continually frustrated at the amount of registers and options when just the basics were needed. Intel offers a space shuttle of a processor when just the basic Ford or Chevy will do the job perfectly. When Intel realizes this issue..then things will change.

The x86 volume is dropping quarter on quarter at 5% or more. Do the math and see how fast volumes are dropping. This requires they must consolidated manufacturing and reduce R&D burn.

It is funny this talk about he virtuous cycle. At one point x86 and windows provided that by building more usage and productivity feeding more features and more growth.

Today the virtuous cycle is owned by ARM and Google and iOS where a billion + devices create huge opportunity. The only thing intel captures is one corner the backend cloud and even there all the major operators are spending so much they are seeing the ROI to drop x86 for custom ARM and other hardware solutions that keep profit and advantage to themselves. More and more the cloud buyers are competing with each other and see how customers chips did for Apple. You can't trust your future to intel who also supplies your competitors. They will all soon be doing their one custom chips.

Intel has no virtuous cycle it missed the boat with ARM and still refused to embrace it.

IoT silicon will compute best on ARM not x86 given its much larger virtuous cycle. ARM is superior based on larger installed base and powers efficiency that already spanked intel I'm phones and tablets and holds even larger advantage for the ultra low power.

It amazes me how the executives at intel missed all of this. But again there is little outside blood and the leader ain't too bright.

More downsize is a certainty...
