Dollar Tree is cutting cost by eliminating 370 jobs in Family Dollar Stores in Mathews, but moving forward with a plan to develop 70 acres at its headquarters in Chesapeake?! They said the development plan will allow about a 100 new jobs a year in Chesapeake over the next 6 years.

It s---s for the Matthews people, but they're part of the Dollar Tree corporation now, so it makes sense that DLTR would want all the shared services people in Chesapeake. A significant hit to the Charlotte economy, but DLTR owes it to their shareholders to be efficient. Also this merger drama has been going on for 2 years so anybody who stayed at FD all this time was betting against the odds. They've had 2 years of a very good Charlotte economy to find something else. This did not come out of the blue.
