Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

IDF insight please

Okay can someone tell me what they saw at IDF that will compensate for what will be another 4-5 quarters of 5-10% Quarter over Quarter sales drop in PC?

So server grows at 3-5% can make up maybe half the revenue and keep profits flat, but what will add 4-5 BILLION in revenue

Sorry, 5G, IoT, and the combined VR total for all of 2017 if Intel was to capture doesn't even amount to a billion.

I see revenue continue to fall and profits down as well, next year will be ugly as 10nm attempt to ramp with huge costs but little revenue, Kabby and Coffee ramp on 14nm with big die and below average ASP

Additional layoffs are all but certain, combined with CISCO and others will amount to a most ugly job market..

Good luck to the those still on the Titanic

@IWFkPc0-1atw It is often hard to predict when and what will take off. We had the newton decades ago, but nothing, than take away the stylus add a few trivial things and boom. Technology and inventions finds their own way in creating home runs. No about of technical fellows or sociologists can predict it's direction.

I do know for a fact that I have tried and several of my friends tried recently VR glasses, two of which are big gamers and walked away un-impressed.

I am not sure I will be the first one to say it these VR push, won't amount to much..

I know I'm not the first to say this. Intel forward looking prognosis for the next two years is terrible, more layoffs are coming

@IWFkPc0-1ogj so sad to see a company with so much talent, so much $ wasting away as management is so miss guided. Pity the employees still there and their coming very bleak future!

OP are you kidding me?

Mica bracelets, Jimmy bots and magic toothbrushes will drive hyper exponential growth. Mortgage the house and buy up some INTC. We're going to the moon.

Where is will.i.am?

We need his creative genius in our time of need.

If anyone can solve the empty fan problem - it's will.i.am - or maybe Sheldon - he is a genius after all.

This one image shows why "mixed reality"* is never going to be a big seller:

  • yeah, like we needed a new name too - just to confuse people. What they're really trying to say with the new name is, "You jugheads, it's not virtual reality -- you haven't grasped the total vision -- which is mixed reality."

Based on your response it does not appear you are interested in getting any insight from anyone from IDF but rather convey your biases about how Intel is screwed. Intel may well run into that situation but that is not clear yet because they have provided analysts with growth estimates based on their assumptions which can go wrong of course but will be clear only in hind sight. It may be worthwhile not obsessing about Intel's future howsoever bitter you might be because its unlikely to change much for those still working there or even you for that matter if you are not working there.
