Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Let's look at the number of layoffs and where.

Let's look at the number of layoffs and where. Let's start with 1000 in lower 48 announcement. Then we have 300 in Canada (700). Next we have 300 in Houston (400). Then 160 in Bartlesville and 40 in San Juan (200) and 100 in Permian and Rockies (100). Gulf Coast with 50 layoffs (50). This leaves 50 remaining that can be shifted to Bartlesville or Houston. Most likely to Bartlesville bringing them up to 210.

How would you adjust these numbers???

Not even close to 35%. If we had 18,000 in 2014 then that would be 6,300 laid off/EOI. Closer to 15% (2,700 laid off/ EOI) which gives 15,300 current employees. After this round the total will be closer to 20%.

Could anyone estimate the Total % Layoff since 2015 ?

I'm estimating an average of 35% of COP workforce in 2014

Barlesville has not had very many EOI's because they will be stuck with a house they can't sell. Most are hoping for transfers to Houston.

Did Bartlesville have more than 400 EOI's?

I am certain that San Juan had more than 40 EOI's so we should be good!

Those are the numbers we were told, 40 from San Juan and 100 from Permian Rockies. These numbers include EOI's.

Any employee that is in an area that has been issued notification under the WARN Act is covered by the WARN act. Contractors are not included. Anyone that submits an EOI is just advising that they would like to be included in the layoff. The ~12% for L48 (380 per DW townhall) may be positions and it is up to the company to really set the amount. In the end, if 200 people from outside L48 are hygraded in, L48 may lose 580 to 700 original people if you include EOIs not replaced ...

I think this is all blowing hot air.. assuming numbers.. BTW .. contractors are generally safer than employees in cop motto..Somehow supervisor magically find money to keep them !

1erw it also does not include contractors so the numbers will be higher.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think people opting for EOI actually count toward the Warn notice or lack there of. In fact EOI's may not necessarily count as part of forced workforce reduction. If this is the case we could see higher numbers than wa announced. We may see higher numbers than anticipated in Bartlesville, Calgary, and Houston.

WARN notifications only went to Houston, not Bartlesville. There will be 500+ laid off in Houston, no other office will be laying off the amount required to issue the notice ( for Bartleville that means less than 400 max). 6% of the company is 940 and L48 wide will be 380 people across the BU (more heavily out of EC3). Canada has indicated 250 to 300 and there will be many through the EOI process. Europe and Asia will have smaller amount as well, but Houston, Calgary and some from Bartlesville will be the bulk.

I really hate to break it to everyone but Bartlesville will be gone. So whatever that number is perhaps what's 400 will cover 40% of the domestic layouts. Throw in 50 San Juan, Permian/Rockies and the rest will come out of Houston for the lower 48.
