How to participate in class-action lawsuit? I want in.
And the age discrimination suit is about to begin. This CEO is going to cost Intel Billions because of his stupidity.
79% of those selected for (INTEL) layoffs in the US so far were over the age of 40. US employees over 40 were also 2.5 times more likely to be affected by the April workforce reduction compared to those not, and the likelihood only increased the older you were.
@1lfy. ERP were not threatened but VSP most certainly were. According to the doc we received, VSP were overwhelmingly senior employees.
And then there have been so many hirings and firings and so many reorg's that I couldn't keep all the names/places straight.
Well DUH ERPs were all above 55. You have to be at LEAST age 55 to fall under the lessor of all the rules (the Rule of 55). LOL
So, what they were doing was dangling a carrot (the Enhanced part of the ERP) to see who grabbed it to help them get to their target of 11%. To me, that was a good thing. My taking the ERP saved someone else's *ss that wanted/needed to stay. We were not 'threatened' (the 'strong language' I heard a LOT of people talking about from Open Forum's etc.) that if we didn't leave it wouldn't be good come the next round. That 'strong language' was pretty much reserved for those that were VSP's. (If you don't take it it won't be that nice the next time around so you should REALLY consider it).
Certainly, Intel has not gotten it's money's worth out of Krzanich. What a waste of money on an overpriced moron.
Same article in this thread
I cannot understand how Intel still insists age was not a factor in any of the layoffs. Because I was of that age and also a VSP, I got a list (required by law) of all the ISP/VSP/ERP heads (no names) and their ages. I saw only a smattering of ISPs or VSPs under 40. ERPs, of course were all above 55.
There can be no question that the ACT first round was clearly targeted by age. First, obviously, ERP was going to specifically sift out 55+, no way around that. Then, VSP was going to hit those employees who perhaps had plateaued in their careers but were not performance issues--more likely the older you are and the longer you've been at Intel and the lower the grade. They did this around 2012-ish as well with the "blue sky" project, which was designed to encourage retirement eligible employees to leave. In at least one case that I know of where the gray-head target declined, they then built a 'performance' case around it. I remember this employee did an ODI but nothing came of it. And, even then, several retirees told me they felt that they really were being forced, even though that too was called a 'voluntary' departure and not based on age.
As to performance, they keep redefining the criteria for that too. It has turned the place into a Hunger Games mentality.
The reason Intel got so bloated and over staffed was managerial lack of focus. Starting/stopping/changing too many initiatives and staffing them to the hilt, then going nowhere in terms of results.
