It is a perfect disaster that will be right up there with Kodak and written about in technology business classes for years to come. CRB, PSO and of course BK will be infamous for their part in leading the decline.
The disaster will be that they are on the third and fourth generation PC designs on 14nm. The added features take area and power but are still on 14nm. Thus cost will be bad, due to continued low yield and the larger die make. But Intel should easily supply demand as demand will be down another 10% but the loss of total units at same revenue will mean more cost cutting! Who cares about those features on PC anyway, all about mobile and Intel is non existent, sorry a modem in the iphone7 won't save the company.
Than IoT and memory will s--- and be at losses. Modems will have little profit and this will all put huge gross margin pressure. Anyone think a fragmented IoT market can generate 5 billion for Intel with 60%GM. More like a few hundred million in revenue on 1 billion cost.
Than the big elephant in the room is 10nm. Huge factories and people in place but the schedule is so late due to process health that is going to destroy the company!
Server will grow at 5% and be under margin pressure by the end of 2017 due to the ARMy finally arrives in server.
Intel will be 70k in 2017 and 50k in 2018 and if 10nm slips even uglier. Employees get your parchute a ready it is a crash
