Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Here's why I left.

I experienced how 'success' at Cisco was related to politics and not necessarily performance, and I didn't want to personally develop "the politics", although I could have and I could have 'survived' that way.

My skill set has always served me well, and I wanted to continue personal development of my skill sets in business, technology, and selling - in ways that are relevant to today's and future market needs.

Cisco Sr. Leadership continued to make really bad hiring, strategic, and tactical decisions as related to Cloud, in my opinion.

I was growing increasingly disappointed with leadership decisions and my capacity/ability to affect change.

I didn't think it was right to work and draw pay from a company I didn't believe in.

I wanted to work for a relevant Cloud company- to grow and gain experience-and the right opportunity literally fell in my lap...

When one door closes walk through the next door that opens.

I hope these ramblings are helpful to you. We are, all of us, in this together.

I left because:

  • Client email database (MDS marketing data store) is in wrong hands.

  • The use of counterfeit software.

  • The use of copyrighted imagery.

  • The use of keyloggers in laptops.

  • HR director in my country teaches employees english lessons for a fee.

  • I was once told to make the figures look good. I didn't and I got excluded.

  • Everybody thinks this is the place of the fatty paycheck.

  • The tools used for metrics got LRd too.

  • Country director has the 'See no evil' culture.

  • The dept. budgets end on third party hands. Family.

  • AMEX handling, payments disguised as interaction with clients.

  • Everybody loves to procrastinate.

  • IT managers shared folders full of counterfeit software.

  • Previous channel mkt. director, moved to HP CEO position a week after quitting (which is illegal) yet nobody said a word.

  • The marketing director sells the company giveaways.

  • Continuous mitosis of 'charities'.

  • Contractor market - hiring practices - Contractors are considered garbage.

  • The community manager tweets Huawei, teaches how to 'program' social media (works from home but, hootsuite does the job).

  • There is a terrorist in SJ, and proudly blogs about it. Is in the company since 2012, but according to his linkedin, he's been here since 1992.

  • Salesforce 'bonifications'.

  • Public sector contract-sales, channel partner benefits game.

And many more.
