Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

St. Louis WFM

I went into the WFM in St. Louis last week. No one ever even said hello to me. Even the workers stocking the shelf didn't take time to say hi. The few workers that I saw were too busy stocking to pay attention to me. When I checked out, there was one cashier and 6 people in line. I'm sorry but Whole Foods has lost what used to set them apart from the competition. It's become just another grocery store....An expensive grocery store.

I can buy many of the same brands at other stores for less money, usually.

No one rolled out the red carpet for you because you walked down the chip aisle? No one bothered you...they treated you like the responsible adult you should be. Oh but no one stopped doing their work to hear how you just found out that you are allergic to wheat and dairy? No one walked you to the milk?

Grow the f up....people need to stop acting like they are so important when they shop for food.

Seriously...

Our prices are horrible! $7 bagged 10oz shelf stable clam chowder?? The prices are what will tank this ship. Customers with special needs can go elsewhere for the pampering posh nosh they think they deserve.

Every food retailer is seeing lower numbers.

Whole Foods would like you to believe they are not profitable. THIS SITE IS LIKELY ONE WAY THEY HOPE TO THIN THE HERD, THROUGH PARANOIA AND FEAR. If they can use this site to their advantage they will.

Work the best you can...make them fire you. They want us to quit. Don't do it.

I agree, winds of change are blowing....they're preparing to compete on price, which is different from all the past talk about "price investments" Something Walter Robb said they would NEVER do....it's a race to the bottom, he said. Now, that's exactly where this company is going.....the margins will thin, so cuts have to be made somewhere in an effort to offset them to some degree so the stock doesn't tank more than it has....next comes consolidation, too many players in this space now when it wasn't but 10 years ago when the FCC said merging with Wild Oats would create a monopoly. So basically, it's just a pretty grocery store that anyone can copy.
