Unemployment Benefits Oklahoma

Does anyone know when I can start taking unemployment benefits in Oklahoma after layoff.

Can I start right after my termination date?

You can file immediately. There is a two week waiting period and if you get a final check from COP after you start reporting to the state you will have to report the gross pay you received. When you get severance payment, you will have to report that as well. Those earnings will only cause you to not get a check from the state for the week you report them and then the checks can resume. The procedure is easy to do and easy to file weekly reports online. Be sure to check the box to have taxes come out of your unemployment benefit in case you don't have enough deductions to cover tax expense.

I wish I had drawn the benefits totally out all the way, but was afraid to do that for fear I wouldn't find any work knowing that the job market was going to be flooded. If you can draw it out, I think you should. Enjoy rest and time with family. Good luck to you!

HR told me that I could apply the day after the official layoff date with no issues. COP does not provide severance info to the state.
