Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

To answer the questions from our UK colleague...

To answer the questions from our UK colleague, CTS has its own bonus system far less appealing than the CISCO one, especially for grades 10 and below.

CTS has less leaves than CISCO France also. Thanks to the "CE" members that are so called communists sold to the management, negotiations took place that led to the following outcome (applicable to France only obviously):

  • CISCO PLI at the target (IPF, CPF set to 1.0) is guaranteed for people present on August 2017

  • Transfert Bonus of 6K € for people present on February 2017

  • CTS bonus system

  • Salary raise of 75% of the delta between CISCO PLI Target and CTS target on 1st January 2018

  • Same average salary raise for former CISCO people than CTS people on July 2016 (still discretionary though)

  • Decent training budget guaranteed on a 24 months period for digital TV, IOT, bank, health, depending on the wishes of the employees and the needs and opportunities within the company

  • Job guaranteed for 24 months (36 for people over 50), faults apart, so no layoff package

  • RSU: accelerated vesting for RSU normally available on February 2017

If that can serve as a basis for other negotiations.

6 month later

78 people yet here

forecast workload is low, very low!

another thanks to our dear representatives.

during the same time a LR occurred, in CSF,severance Packages were great!

roughly from 6 to 36 months, according to seniority plus some outplacement coaching.

for us many breakdowns

Can't get rid of my mind that this so-called transfer is doubtful... No activity for 85 people. On these 85 people, 15 are over 50 and half might be above 45, with high seniority. A LR would have cost a huge amount of money (on last LR basic package was 60k euros, and much more if you had been working there for a long time - and it takes much more time than getting rid of people with a transfer)

the worse, is that Cognizant has currently any activity in embedded system in France!

th worse, is that Cognizant has currently any activity in embedded system! they propose to move to financial, banking, pharmaceutical services, after a 25 days training! more , system architects are staying in cisco... in my opinion all embedded activities will move to bangalore.

"UK colleague" here. Thanks for the info - all very useful. Obviously we're worried that we're next for the Cognizant takeover. The package doesn't sound too bad in the short term but I can see why you're worried about the longer term. Good luck over there. It's (usually :-)) been a pleasure working with you!

Too easy to show only the gains without showing the losts... So, the losts are :

  • less paid leave days (5 less exactly),

  • no more home working anymore,

  • unknown location (but far from the site we are now),

  • not sure to still have an activity in 6 months,

  • outsourced to a services company that can and will send us to its customers to do anything they want.

We still think that its a disguised layoff : Cognizant is going to fired us in place of Cisco (but the result will be the same).

It is so they can get rid of you on the cheap. The company will even get money back from Cognizant to take you.
