Fall PDC - Must Move

Guys/Gals,

Next week is the fall PDC for FE/Ops and I've posted for six assignments (all rotational), I've got 12 yrs experience of which 3 yrs with CVX. Is there any prioritization for "must moves" and do you hear results during the PDC or after? Any input would be much appreciated.

fjza, "Must Moves" would be retained even if there was no immediate job for them (in good times). We're nowhere near good times right now, so those without an immediate job will be tossed with the rest of us.

So what was the results of this "Must Move" FEPDC? Are there layoffs going on from this? I had heard that must moves would be kept on even if they did not find a new position - true/false?

D&C's must move was brutal. As we know they canned the honest competent folks and kept the dicks. I thought you got rid of the jugheads in these layoffs.

For years I've been encrypting all my documents. There's nothing on my laptop or personal tablet that isn't encrypted by default. I know that much of it is backed up or finds its way to the "cloud", which is nothing more than a massive server somewhere in the world, not necessary located in the USA. As much as Apple, Google, Yahoo or even the government would tell you it's safe, it's NOT.

No, the cloud is where all your information ends up getting stolen.

Um, someone mentioned there was a lot of Oil in Iraq. Did you hear that?

And cloud computing sounds familiar. Isn't that where everyone is outsourcing their storage to third parties over the internet to save a fortune?

Even in the midst of an ongoing cash-flow crisis, there are departments within CVX that just don'd get it! Check out these 2 examples of recent job postings: 1) IT - Cloud Foundation Program Manager (16-3454-TP), 2) Business & Commercial - KRI Decision Analyst (16-3471-EE.

I won't even chance a guess on why CVX needs a "Cloud" other than to keep more IT folks employed doing non-value adding BS. As far as a DA for KRI (Kurdistan Region of Iraq), a real simple analysis.... get the F out of this play!!! This region is not going to be stable of the foreseeable future and very probably will be the epicenter of WW3!

JW... you need to get off the damn golf course and start steering the Company or just resign with the 100s of thousands of stock options you have and go be a caddy for D Trump when he sells the Republican Party to the Democrats.

All of my past experience has been in oil and gas EPCs. I have been in touch with one of the job on ours and have established a good communication with him. My manager has been very great about reaching out to job owners in order to make sure I am successful in this PDC. *fingers crossed

OP- where did you work outside CVX? If it was outside the oil & gas industry, you might want to re-establish your contacts there for a back up plan. Having only 3 years in CVX and competing in must-move PDCs in these difficult times will be challenging IMHO. If you don't have a long track record within the company, the job owners may not know you that well- that's the problem. I hope you are successful, GOOD LUCK!

Yep, take what you can get, cause in the end no one will hire you, and you can't do any better, and eatin $hit sandwiches every day isn't all that bad when everyone else around you is eating them too. Keep your fingers crossed, wait with baited breath while a moron decides whether you have a paycheck or not.

Oh, i have a better idea. Tell them to pi$$ off, get a real job with a company that promotes hard work, believes in common sense decisions, and places competent leaders who can make decisions in charge. Grow a pair and do what you know is right. Just saying....

Thanks everyone for your input. I was wondering the same with all the contingent jobs, surely not everyone is a must move. In any case, I am open to taking anything, rotations or resident.

For those who want to keep working, I suggest you take whatever you are offered. Just hope you get an offer. These are tough times and you need to ride it out. Buckle up cowboy.

Who was the entitled d--k not getting a coveted rotational assignment but yet got a job probably at the same PSG? Just no perks. Hope you had a job to go to somewhere else. Thanks for opening yours up to me.

-nxb Sounds like the usual Chevron process. Pick out people to be victimized, use all tools at their disposal to persecute, sink to a bullying school yard mentality then convince themselves the victim is at fault.

There are contingent jobs...so how is everyone a must move?

I was a must move with 15 yrs experience. I was working rotational and only posted for rotational jobs. My PDR was a typical Chevron d--k who sent me resident to Houston against my will. I resigned....and dont regret it for a minute. Your must move priority status guarantees you will be bent over first.

This round everyone in the FE PDC is a must move. There are no non-must moves in the FE PDC.

You'll hear something probably by Friday, but maybe the following Monday if your PDR has a lot of people.
