A Personal Message TO Ken Lueers

Thank you, Sir, for the touching personal message this morning laying out you plans for retirement.

I, along with surely most of the Calgary CPC “family” are pleased that you will be able to move forward into a happy and secure retirement. I truly wish you well.

Many of us will also moving into a retirement of sorts, but not quite as enjoyable as the one you plan for yourself.

Your effective date will be 1 Jan. That’s great, both for tax purposes and other things like accrued vacation. Unfortunately, the layoffs are inconveniently timed for the rest of us. The severance package will be decimated by 2016 taxes for those of us not quite as privileged as you.

Your travel plans are exciting. Travel to Australia, cruise to Alaska, and a trip to Europe! I also had planned to travel, a trip to Hawaii to celebrate our anniversary. Maybe I can get my deposit back.

You’ll also have time for some mid-week skiing. I hope we get a heavy snowfall this winter. Good for your skiing and good for my new part time snowplowing gig.

I believe you are a sincere person, and you really believe that you feel our pain. Take it from me, You Don’t.

So good to hear Ken talk about his plans for retirement.

What planet does this guy live on.

Enjoy retirement Ken, with your big fat package. His last town hall summed it up we don't make money till Oil hits $60 ! Why is that, layers of management that add no value, two SVP's one who is incompetent and a Capital Projects organization that has no Capital Projects, I could go on.

There is no bitterness in my comments just reality when good hard working people will be laid off because of incompetent people at the top.

Maybe when he is looking at the Penguins he will realize what a mess he made of it.

No complaints about Ken. He's a good guy, treated everyone with respect, was approachable and fair, and wish him all the best in his retirement. Not sure about Hatfield, other than the architect of the failed COST program. Hope he's a reasonable and well-informed guy.

Pretty obvious Ken is not in touch with reality. Laying off people next week who will not be able to travel and have such a nice time as he is planning. Who cares that he is going to travel and meet his sister in law in Alaska !! The guy hired too many people has no idea on running a business and is not up for the challenge. Man up get rid of the other idiots like Berkanpas and sort this out? No I will take a golden handshake and go to the Zoo when I get bored!!!!

Is Hatfield the man to replace him, Doubtful he will just bring more red necks from Houston up and cost the company more money.

Wow, who ever wrote those nasty comments needs serious therapy. Hope you are caught in the next round because I don't want to work with anyone who would make comments like that about anyone.

Hopefully kharma will catch up him in a metaphorically off-with-his-head kind of way....say an avalanche from heavy snow or rogue hurricane.

And @ wej... This post is pretty far removed from bitter and horrible. It's real and raw, which is what this site is for! Keep reading some of the others if you're bent on finding horrible.

To all the leaders of the company - Way to go! You put us in this mess by overstaffing between 2010-2014.

And now they all get to ride off into the sunset with big retirements or they get shuffled around into new positions with no dock in pay and no risk of being let go. All the while the company lays off thousands of the bottom of the totem pole work force. What a great company.

You really are a horribly bitter person. From this note, I just feel sorry for you.
