just a question. Our store is the lowest paid employeer in our area. Walmart. Target, Macdonalds, Taco Bell, Wendys, Chick fil-a, Dollar Store, 7-11, restaurants, grocery store, gas station, movie theather, car wash, city dump, etc all pay more that Sears/Kmart. Also, with no raises or chance for advancement, short hours and lots of stress or benefits how does your store retain employees and what is the level of committment of those employees to the company? Just wondering what the attitude and moral of your store is considering these things. And also do you think your DM knows about these things?

wow, sounds like our store...after the lies. And I can feel it is coming for me , too. I remember so many who were done that way. Now our store can't get a minimum wage worker to save their a-- - well maybe for one week (after training) You ever noticed the look on their faces before they left? SOUR AND NO WAY!
I left after 15 years and doubled my income have better and cheaper health insurance and they actually care about my opinion and value my experience as important to their success . I can only express my last 4 years with Sears as being constantly shouted at while tending to a corpse, the most miserable years I spent as a working adult.
Morale is terrible. Retention is terrible. Hour cuts are ridiculous for the size store we have and the amount of freight and general everyday tasks and oh yes, customer service.
Our Manager just told us about a week ago at a Rally that part time associates will be cut to 15 hours based on how much an associate is willing to cover storewide. So you know run layaway and back up cashier etc etc.
Our very good part timers are now job searching and most (who were promised 29 hours at hire or rehire) and are already cut to 23 to 25 hours are saying they will walk out.
Cashiers have already walked because of getting 4 hours or none as budget cuts to manhours continue.
Its only getting worse.
Pay? Well for PT Merchandiser or cashiers its minimum wage. So 15 hours is a joke.
Even if you get say 8.50 or so for another pt position do the math. 29 hours isnt a livable wage and getting a second job is required if you are anyone other than a 18 to 20 year old living at home.
At our store 7 full time associates were layed off then begged to return and promised 29 hours to be part time. Some have 27 years some have 4 years, 6 returned. This is some kind of bs.
