Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Well said OP. Definitely not the company it was. I walked out yesterday too, after years and years of service. I feel betrayed, but I also feel relieved. It truly is a minefield in there, and in many ways I feel relieved and empowered to seek a better place of employment.

Best of luck to all who remain. I hope things turn around before the company gets absorbed or continues the gradual descent belkw the water line.

I EOI'ed last go around. Have to say, it is so different looking at all the drama from this side. I talk to friends still in the daily fray and don't envy them at all. It was once a great place to work, and I gave what seems like a lifetime to the place. Now, I often wonder why it all seemed so important at the time. I am grateful for good retirement savings, and having worked for a company that still provides pension benefits which is rare these days. If you make it through another layoff, save all you can--you won't regret it.

Remember, family and the people you surround yourself with are what is really important in the long run. Corporations are just corporations--not family. That becomes quite clear the day you walk out the door.

next one wont be an enhanced severance, and the company will soon be sold
