Any insight into these meetings? New initiatives? Layoffs? Restructuring departments or ???

All of them. And the GVP's too. Don't pay any attention to that man behind the curtain.
Paying OT is against policy and against objectives. That's why hourly employees were made into exempt employees. There is no way to fit the work required into 8 hours. Follett will have to staff more realistically or they'll have to pay the OT. I definitely see pay cuts in the future for many managers.
Please don't be naive enough to think that going hourly mean you will be give overtime. You will be required to be out at 40 hours for face disciplinary action for booking OT to your store
Screwed too, lots more work, benefits cut, no merit and no bonus.
Already got screwed, lost $22/hour as an asm, my position was eliminated. Took a sm position at $16.50/hr. Was told 'this is what is in the budget. No support from rm. too close to retirement or I would definitely leave.
What a septic tank! There are more than a few markets where you can't live on $47K. How can a store manager work for so little? If your earning $47K, you're earning a little over $22.56/hour. If you're offered less, they're offering you a pay cut. At 60 hours per week, with over time you'd be earning $82K. That's $39.50/hour (based on 40 hours). They'll be offering far less than $22.56/hour to managers. They won't offer an apology for stealing the $35K in overtime pay they should have paid you all along, either. That's what abuse looks like.
Any reason to stick around?
Not sure where everyone is getting their dates from but according to the department of labor, the new law takes effect December 1st 2016. Not January 1st like everyone on here seems to think.
They try this Jan 1st when the law takes effect and they may have a lot of stores with no managers going into Spring Rush.
Not even Follett would shoot themselves in the foot 2 weeks before rush by showing the only remaining trained staff the door.
Yes, this is Store Managers. If you are making under 47K, you are going to hourly with a pay cut for anticipated overtime.
What I'm hearing is the beginning of the discussions to make all salaried employees across the enterprise earning less than $47K annually being offered a new hourly position that will include a cut in pay for many. It would seem the lower pay is to allow for anticipated overtime. I'm not sure if packages will be offered for those unwilling to switch to the new position. This will be a HUGE shift in the business and affect a bunch of folks. Talks are just starting...but it's coming. Implementation will January 1st with the lead up to the change taking place throughout December. Merry Christmas!
If they cut your pay when because they have to pay you over-time it means you should never have been exempt. That means they've been ripping you off. Now, they're doubling down on the abuse by cutting your pay so they afford to pay you the new legally required overtime. You're staying why? This company isn't different from any other terrible employer. There are plenty of crappy companies to work for. Follett has become one. Quit. Simply find another job and start the day they offer you the job. You friends will understand. Management doesn't give references. Just quit. Quit the abuse.
Will benefits be kept? Going hourly may be welcomed then ho will see how many hours store managers really put in, 10-12 hour days
Does this include store managers? I know of some course material managers that were changed to hourly this summer.
Related to the new labor laws coming in a couple months. Salaried managers making kess than $47k going to hourky w/ pay cut.
Funny. Our regional was supposed to visit our area this week as well but had to cancel until next week. We all know what happened last time this happened.
Restructuring, because we are still losing money and Labor is the biggest cost.
