Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Moving on...

I don't think a lot of thought was put to decide who stays and who should go. People you know and your influences play the most and not what you know. It seems very unfair (and I call it a game).

At the same time people at the top getting promoted.

There are still lots of incompetent supervisors and managers with no leadership or judgment skills around, while knowledgeable people, very good hard working people are gone.

What a freaking joke. Absolutely agree with OP and replies. Who needs this place anyway. You expect to see this garbage in your average corporation, but it's brought to a new level at COP.

COP is already moving people from petrotech the bus Partner to stop giving out RSUs and to cut pay. It wasn't enough to fire 1,000+, need to save more money so supervisors and managers can give themselves bonuses.

So true everyone. I can see the severance plan at COP changing in the near future, given the scale of the impending next round.

I can see that being absolutely true in Canada. Know the right people and you are safe.

I could not agree more, it is all about who you are or who you know. That's how they decide who goes and who stays.

Now is the time to start looking for a new job and bail out of COP for those not lucky enough to get a package. It's clear that only sycophant supervisors and managers managed to stay. There are now literally orgs that have more supervisors and managers than employees. I guess this is the new model, a bunch of "leaders" tell one person how bad of a job they are doing to justify canning them in the upcoming April layoff cycle.

@hzy - it isn't only the expats that are running Canada into the ground. To be honest, the locals (Burlington) are even worse. I'd gladly name names but the site would remve my post.

I can't beleive I wasted 3 years of my life in that sh--hole

Couldn't agree more. It's a buddy system. I know higher staff that actually wanted to leave yet they were kept even though they didn't know a lot and worked very little.

Same thing in Canada. Incompetent team leads and arrogant expat managers are still there. As long as you know the right people, you are guarantee to stick around. Advise for the nice layoffs: start brown nosing NOW! YES NOW! I AM!!!!

San Juan is a mess almost no layoffs and yet a TON of unnecessary people hanging around...embarrassing.
