I EOIed and didn't get laid off. Is this common?

They won't accept an EOI if they know you'll be leaving soon anyway. May sound obvious, but...
If you're headed out soon, why pay you a severance. They just write you off now as a short-termer.
Have seen several EOI's that were not given either because the person was doing work that was considered critical or there wasn't any backup for the job. Some people have good supervisors (they exist) and the EOI was deferred to let them finish the work or move other people in place.
Lawsuits against not getting EOI? Good luck with that since EOI is papered to the edges with lawyers.
How close are you to retirement? I think they like getting rid of folks with lots of merit raises Nader their belt, translation--old. 😀
I didn't EOI and still got layed off. Can I sue because you EOI'd and got to stay?
Now that they denied you, request the EOI list and ask what is so critical about your job that you couldn't be replaced by one of the 1000+ laid off. Could be a nice lawsuit in your horizon with a bigger payout.
They will never give an EOI if there is an underperforming employee or they want to fire someone!!
This is your chance to do the most outrageous sh*t you can think of to see just what it would take to get let go.
They keep the second rate, low cost employees and layoff the higher paid ones for a greater savings. Nobody is doing any work anyway so it doesn't matter.
Yes. They keep high potential employees or those that are doing key tasks/projects. Use you up as much as they can then get rid of you when you don't serve them a need.
You are not alone
