GBS To Be Sold Off

The current rumor is that GBS is being shaped up to be sold off.

The growth units are starting to take shape and earn revenue, but those figures aren't being earned in GBS.

Additionally, a lot of the GBS work is now being done by the respective business units.

For example, IBM Cloud is sending in teams to do the business analysis and even helping out with the roll out of the new products (aka delivery).

In other words, GBS isn't the only business unit doing the "services" part any more and there is no need for them.

Also the fact that Bridget Van Kralingen has been replaced with somebody from Accenture is a telling sign of what is about to happen.

If you are absorbed by Accenture, you will be no better off as they actually have the same problem...they are pretty poor at true consulting having to give contacts often to much better firms. Accenture will eat GBS like Cannibals and is what they do to every company that they buy - those firms are unrecognizable from the original brands that attracted Accenture in the first place, the best of their talent run as fast as they can.

Relax. Drink some Kool-Aid. Trust me on this: you will be much happier outside of IBM. There is life after Big Blue.

Both possible and likely - things are going to blow up

This actually would be a good thing for GBS as it would free the group to do true consulting work (currently they are slaves to the sales cohort) - I just hope they do not sell us to Tata, Infy or any other Indian company - being absorbed by Accenture would be my preference
