Thread regarding Sears layoffs

ok guys whats the scoop from the inside

so - we know that whatever craftsmen is sold for (if it is) will ALL be going to reduce the pension deficit.

None of it can be used to buy inventory - since black and decker pulled out the chances of a sale and anything close to $2 billion are remote to non exisitant.

The first major supplier Jackks has now refused to ship to SHLD. Would they do that if they thought SHLD could afford to pay- no.

We know if they keep on selling assets/real estate and eddie keeps on lending, SHLD would have tops 2 years before its current ops burnt though the asset sales. We can sepculate that he won't want to sell all assets just to clear operational losses.

What we really need to see on this board is a credible hq employee break cover and let us know if bankruptcy talks/lawyers have been discussed or appointed?

So lets call it out can anyone in hoffman estates hq share some meaningful info?

I also work in HQ and as the previous person said you just have to observe .... HR posts many positive messages and signs around the HQ campus that belies what is really going on. Upper management never says a discouraging word, Every other week I hear of one or two people 'leaving', probably laid off but instead of doing in mass they are doing it a little at a time. I have been here almost 23 years... and I know things are coming to an end. When Montgomery Ward shut down, I recall seeing on the news corporate employees walking back to their cars with boxes after they were sacked, when it happens it's going to probably be like that.... you might as well prepare now. I am 62 years old so I will just ride it out then retire. If I was 10 or 20 years younger I would get my resume put together. We just has a 're-org' in our area and I received a demotion after all these years... but at my age not much I can do.... my financial advisor told me to hang on and get the severance and collect unemployment... I just hope PBGC covers the pension and we don't get that taken away from us.

They won't tell you anything. You can only observe. I study financials and SEC stuff as do many here. SHLD is going to go through the holiday season but after that I don't know. You have a job for a while. The end of October is the end of Q3 for SHLD and I would expect a loss and a large one. Again. We won't know until near Thanksgiving.

At some point in the near future the debtload vs inventory is going to have to be addressed. Get your plans ready and pay off your credit cards and get your car fixed. If the holiday season does not go well, which it probably won't, I would think that bk would be announced in Late Fed or March and then shut down procedures.

Do NOT go spending a lot of money if you work for SHLD.
