We have to get it below 40 by 12/31. Bet they start taking away weeks of vacation. Work 25 yrs, get 5 weeks vacation? Bet that is next to go.

Lucky Californians.
Check your state's laws. This is regulated by the states. California, for instance, doesn't allow employers to take accrued vacation time. The amount of carryover may be capped, but once earned, it can't be taken away.
Yes, it does. Go to the quad. Retail Vacation Policy - under "carryover" it says: "Going forward, all unused vacation hours will expire on December 31 of each calendar, including those accrued in calendar year 2017." That's verbatim. As I said before, this was updated a month ago that's why not everyone knows.
You can carry over 40 this year (2016). It doesn't say anything about no future carry over.
For the one that asked - the vacation policy is on the quad. It was updated on Sept. 28th. It clearly states that starting in 2017, all vacation hours must be used by December 31, of the same year they were accrued. Please read if for yourself. This year you can carryover 40 hours, but not next year. Don't lose it.
I just submitted time off requests for 3+ weeks of vacation before year end. I don't intend to lose a single day of my paid time off!
Luckily I'm in California. We don't loose anything. Feel bad for those who do. You earned them. This is yet another reason to unionize. Contact your local union representative to set up a meeting.
I have not heard about the No Carryover. Is that in the policy that is published?
The vacation policy was updated on Sept. 28th, make sure you read it carefully. All vacation hrs carried over on Dec. 31 must be used by March 31, 2017, or you lose them. And going forward, for 2017 & beyond, the is no carryover in December. So any vacation hrs acrued in 2017, must be used by December 31, or you lose them.
