You could take up a whole page listing all the wasted spending here. Start with the trash buyouts like aol/yahoo. Aside from the pointless rockstar crap how about winners circle, presidents cabinet, etc. (Along with countless other contests run to pay people extra for just doing their job). Wasted hiring for commercials like Jamie foxx & the other guy (can't even remember his name). All the rebranding of stores and other materials, because logo colors matter. What about the b---s--- joke groups like vlss, ves, wbg (where directors are making 300k). The nonsense that is go90. And then how about salaries for all those outstanding directors & vp's who are SO essential to the day to day operations and dealing with the customers who actually bring in the revenue. On and on and on it goes. Meanwhile, let's rif some more because we need to cut costs. It's really disgusting and makes me sad to work here.
@KDe6zb8-9izd - Your an idiot. They have laid off 58,000 over the past 10 years:

Billions in profit? Try billions in debt moron:

@kDe6zb8-2qec so you're saying Verizon is going to layoff 30k-45k employees? You realize that would be one of the biggest layoffs of employees since the car industry crashed?
Laying off nearly a 3rd of your workforce while posting billions in profits seems to be kinda insane, I doubt you work in HR, maybe you are a janitor in the HR building.
I see. If your truly HR, I appreciate you taking the time to post on here as to what's coming. I'll adjust my holiday shopping accordingly.
Non-commission roles I was referring to earlier will be outside of retail. However, retail will be impacted too. We are talking about a 20% to 30% reduction in workforce across the enterprise.
What's a retail non commission role besides those 1 or 2 ops specialists per store? What else is there that's retail and non commission?
Ask them how much they wasted on CMB leadership academy BS
Verizon Wireless will be working on more cut backs at the beginning of the year. I work in HR, I will not say my official title, and we are being told that more cut backs will be happening at the beginning of the year to retail, non commission roles across the enterprise and in the HR department.
The anti- Midas effect
In most sales organizations a position like our Directors would not need AD and sales managers to run B2B size groups.
Then you add layers of Data idiots that get paid off the sale.... and now we have the WBG/ves team that also has 4 layers to pay for every dollar sold. Oh and they have their own data team all layers on commission.
What does an AD make in comp?? Around $150k all in to sit around and jerk off all day.
What does an AD make in comp?
Verizon pays for people to drive exotic sports cars, but you can't get a screwdriver.
The annual sales kick off meetings held by the Enterprise sales mgt is another ridiculous event. To sit and watch a bunch of helpless sales people jump out of their chair and commit to exceed the sales target is embarrassing. The VES sales force can only take orders from customers, they rarely get new logos and they renew existing customers at lower prices. The sales force, with few exceptions, is a team that does not sell anything. What should we do about that little problem? I got it, promote the Sales VP to run the organization. C'mon, that is lame, need to do better.
AD's in wireless don't direct anyone but themselves. Paid way too much for doing nothing neccesary.
This is true. The ICON 'sales competition' in Miami every year was ridiculous. The entertainment I watched there expensive - Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Train - all artists hired by Verizon for private concerts.
Idiots!!!!!!!
It could. Maybe they could hire some more AD's with the money. Verizon doesn't seem to have enough of them.
