Well I got Follett on the naughty list and it was beautiful. Santa gave me a nice present this year.
After more than 10 years service with the company and dealing with the changes thinking I survived, I was terminated stating a reduction in force and my position was eliminated. As sad as I was I thought it was odd as I heard a replacement of my roles was being hired.
I waited to the last minute before signing and asked a lawyer friend for help. Long story short, she subpoenaed records and I think caused heart failure to someone when this happened and requested a meeting with Human Resources to witness the signing.
Instead of their exit letter a new one was furnished with double the amount and full benefits for a year. While there was a smug look on Follett's end, it was shown a younger individual was hired in my place as a contractor with a company in which a senior individual has ties with. It was also shown from the previous RIF's more than 80% of those eliminated were over 40.
In short, things were settled outside court but was ready for the fight. While I am happy for the win, I wish I had more to take to the company and fight for all who had gone thru this terrible ordeal. Good luck to others in their process. But to those still fighting, there is light at the end of the tunnel and Follett is willing to do a little more if you are willing to work a bit for it
