Thread regarding Caterpillar Inc. layoffs

Denison, TX closure and layoffs

The Denison, TX mining facility management continues to make poor decisions resulting in continuing layoffs. Spending millions to update paint facilities only to demolish a year later. Closing the Van Alstyne warehouse to move inventory back into the dension facility- sounds logical. However the material would not fit so over 20 million in inventory was scrapped for the sake of space. These are just a couple of the questionable decisions being made which have led to hundreds of job reductions. Since the mining decline in 2012 the Denison facility has consistently laid off anyone with tenure and experience. They are now left with a staff of infants who may work cheap but have no practical experience. This facility is set up for failure and no one in upper management seems to care- but then maybe that was the plan all along.

Historically, CAT has never cared about their employees. They only care about their bottom line. All they want to do is layoff, layoff, layoff.

For those of you choosing not to believe that, please take off the blinders, and realize that it is only a matter of time, until the Denison Plant no longer exists (How many companies has that building operated under now ?)

Obviously coming from someone at the former van alstyne warehouse location that was laid off. Did it ever occur to you the mining industry has been in the tank for the last 4 years. If not educate yourself. Cat went from 60+ billion to a projected 38+ billion in annual revenue. That is nearly 30 billion loss, more than most companies in the Fortune 500.

Absolutely it's true, and $20M in scrap is no stretch! Not to mention the millions they spent to move inventory to Van Alstyne from Denison to begin with, and the millions they spent to update the machine shop only to shut it down, as well (along with more job losses of local talented machinists). CAT has run the Denison facility into the ground and laid off or driven away most of the experienced workers who could help them succeed, all while protecting "their own" and patting each other on the back for a job well done!

It sounds pretty friggin accurate to me. $20m of scrapped material might be a stretch, but no doubt that this level of waste and ineptness exists all through the middle management layer.
