Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Any word on Optimum Stores? How many more stores will they close?

So word is going around that atlice is going to close more stores and push customers to ship everything via UPS/Post Office. Push everyone to the mobile app and websites and basically keep the stores that are attached to the warehouses only.

Can anyone please confirm? any programmer or management or anyone?

Of course you can unionize. Back in June, the Brooklyn optimum store was all set to have union election with CWA. They sent Hilber down there to scare the crap out of them and then CWA pulled out the day before the vote.

My suggestion would be for you to contact the union asap and start having a conversations with your coworkers asap / should be easy because it's a small number of workers in each store.

Don't sleep on this.

is unionizing even possible for each store? we dont really talk store to store and there's only a handful of us in each store really. Is it worth it for us? can we even unionize? cant they just close the store early and we are all gone for any store that wants to join the union?

this is a quote from the Agreement between Altice & New York PSC.....

"during the two years following the close of the proposed transaction, Cablevision shall be required to maintain at least 14 out of 18 walk-in centers throughout its New York footprint. Any incremental closure of walk-in centers during these two years will be subject to Commission approval."

that pretty much guarantees that Altice will be shutting down 4 in NY ......(for now)
