Turkey Orders 2016

Just wondering what other store's orders look like. I just left work and our turkey orders are negative comping from last year by 11%, this date (13th). My astl called a few customers who ordered with us for years, and they're going to Kroger now?? After so many years of loyalty. She told me they had issues with the turkeys being frozen in past years.

Our store didn't even bother ordering turkeys that are in the weekly ads.

yeah don't strike. best case scenario - you all get no call no shows for those days and they immediately replace you with cheaper part timers. don't mess with mackey on this, he does not play around with union stuff.

We all like that.. im not sure how we could do it though. We have families to take care of and many of us only have retail experience. Going on strike is like gambling with your family.. We will never strike. Mackey has zero tolerance

Frankly you just need to get out of retail. It will never get better as long as other people are available to quickly take your place.

"More time for home cooking"???? Not when you gotta work pre thanksgiving, thanksgiving day and black friday..luxury that doesnt exist for retail workers..we need a union or a holiday strike

I don't believe the practices at whole foods meat/seafood have deteriorated to the point as has been posted here. Rubbish. Our quality of meat/seafood is still top-notch even if the side dishes are now shipped in frozen bags from wherever..ok that part is not appealing. Nevertheless, I see opportunity for more home cooking .... which translates to more time spent with our loved ones.

Now if that's not turning lead into gold....lmao.

i hate wfm, and i don't work there any more, but i gotta say that in 5 years in meat and seafood i've literally never seen a single one of those things happen.

it is normal practice for meat teams to label conventional organic, gain share has made them greedy and they will sell what ever they can(old meat hidden in marinades ice bathed shrimp whole fish with the eyes shaved to look fresher even new skin on old chicken)to get a extra gain share bump, you name it its been done.every meat tl i have ever worked for had the disposition of a low down street hustler.

I guess calling it the Culinary team automatically adds actual culinary talent without hiring trained professionals. If you keep your wages this low and simplify the job to match the major deskilling of the workforce, you make the larger problems worse. This way we can get away with never raising our company minimum wage and raise the status of Pfoods with a fancy name.

I can't wait until the prepared fo.. oh excuse me, the CULINARY department stops making the in house roast beef in house and uses a pre frozen sous vide crap instead for the same price.

How about the frozen tamales we repackage to look homemade. Guests were pissed to receive them frozen or in wet thawing stage. I told a guest the mashed potatoes came in a BOX, just to be honest and their expression was one of horror. Low class food passing off as real prepared food....hahaha

Passed off conventional as organic?...wait a minute...that's seriously wrong...does anyone have any evidence of this practice...this is major fraud...

it's honestly such a joke to even have such a grand holiday table set up to simply order the same old bs you get anywhere else. people are so pissed when they see the fact that the turkey came in frozen. these are the kind of dumb a-- decisions that make the company look terrible while TMs have to suffer the brunt of disgruntled customer b---s---.

I was told that last thanksgiving we ran out of organic turkeys so they were passing off conventional turkeys as organic

What a shame to sacrifice quality in the meat department for the holidays. Of all the departments this is the stuppidest department to cut quality during the holidays. Whole foods HQ if youre reading this you have to wake up to this FACT...Are you ready? Do you have a pen and paper you idiots? Sacrafice HIGH QUALITY meat during the HOLIDAYS is the same as saying F--- YOU A--hole do a customers face. You WILL lose a customer for LIFE if you RUIN a holiday.

Idiots

This year there was no Taste of Thanksgiving which drove orders into our stores and supported the community. Total change, really disappointing. But, if they knew the food was mass produced overpriced mush from another company they would move on, maybe they have caught on...
