HW coverage is a ripoff. Under Cobra, $1100 for wife and I.

Health exchange for a bronze plan $470 a month (2016). Granted the deductible is much higher but the MAX out of pocket is the same for every plan $6850 each. I'll eat the extra $5K per person to save $7K a year for both of us on premiums. It's very rare for us to need more than $1500 a year in medical bills.

To keep my same coverage (BCBS Medical - Dental - Vision) is $1550/mo through COBRA. Initial payment is 2 months and then you can go monthly via automatic withdraw or submit payment through mail. I checked healthcare.gove and there a many options with a wide range of pricing. Most that were comparable to what I had at Honeywell were in the $1400 to $1600 per month range.

Your current HON insurance coverage is to continue through your severance period. After that there's the COBRA option. One-Stop quoted me about $1000 for me/spouse, $1500 family per month. Call One-Stop. They'll help you. I'm sad to say they're quite knowledgeable in the RIF area.

I haven't looked at it this year but last year's when I priced things as a stand alone consumer, the exact plan that I get internally was around 250 more per month than what I pay internal. I have BC/bs, full family.
