SYW Barcode Failures/Successes For Members Only Night

Much like many of you I got to work the "Members Only" tonight. I will say that we actually had customers in the store tonight even if half of them were Sears employees. We sold a lot of stuff to ourselves.:-) Why not? I think we all know that there is limited inventory to pick from.

Being SNE I now have to punch in but my punch was not recognized and I was MOD. Ok, whatever. There were some screaming deals to be had and my AC manager was in the with his wife buying appliances. I sent one of my off the clock techs down to housewares to get the $24.99 Remington Icoffee K-cup maker that was supposed to be 100 back in points. I called the Mrs.s and sent her out on a mission. We are looking for a new mattress set and I just saw that Serta Coralene set for cheap. None to be found in the store.

OK, I sold a set of tire to the Loss Prevention guy and he was smiling. We forced that transaction through. I couldn't get into my email so I kept looking for more screaming deals. I had picked up a battery pack as birthday present yesterday but everyone was too busy to ring me out so when I came in today I settled up and found that the battery pack was now $20 cheaper than yesterday and that my $15 delayed SYW point had actually activated and that I now had seven or ten dollars in surprise points. Nice.

The buy 3 get one free tire deal was just too much for me to pass up on though. I don't need much in the way of tires because I have brand new tires on all three of my vehicles. However, I have a mismatched set on my wife's Sonata. We had a bad snow storm on Friday and I drove her car yesterday. The car handled just fine when the weather was warmer but not so much now in the snow and ice. OK, how about a set of winter tires? I went through the permutations and I have the Sears Mastercard for ten percent MOAR back in points.

For a set of 2155517 I ended up at $474 for a set of four General Altimax Artic. After I get my $100 back in points that would be $374 plus $47 MOAR back in points and this is for mounting and balancing with lifetime rotate and balance. That is an $800 set of tires for a little over $300. That is just insane. The problem was that we didn't the tires in-stock. When the off duty manager called I told him that I had a deal for him if he had a few minutes. So he came over and said those are in stock at a different store so we can do that. Technically that is an in stock tire he said.LOL OK!

They are going to run that same deal on Black Friday and since we will ALL BE THERE anyway, it would be a good time to buy tires if you need them. I have a set of the Patriot tires on our van and I took that thing out on the ice and snow just to test them. I have to know what I am selling. I purposely tried to make the van slide out. No way, they never let go of the road. If you are on a budget, Sears is pretty much giving them away and it is good tire for the money. I have been nothing but impressed so far with those tires. Anywhere from $100 to $150 for all four depending on size plus alignment/mount and balance. For 17's I was under three hundred on a fictional quote I did for myself.

Think about it. I have to young yahoos show up with two tires they bought at the junkyard for $30 each and they were more than halfway through their lives as far as tread wear. They ended up paying $48 for us to remount and balance. They spent $108 for junk.

Where it will be a hassle is that the barcodes are all messed up. I didn't get my $100 in points and this was to be expected because my manager informed me that there was a mistake with the barcode. What surprised me was the 100% back in points failure. I the FLS MOD there looking at it. I know this points game pretty well.

I know I will get my points but that makes you wonder if the regular customer will get theirs? Every time I have spoken with the SYW folks they have been very helpful. I really appreciate what do. There is no reason to torture them. Hopefully, they get this all figured out before Black Friday.

I am still working on where my billing statement is for the Sears Mastercard. I have tons of points sitting there and I am ready to pay up my balance in full. I will call tomorrow and ask because I want all of my available points to buy that mattress set as per the wife's recommendation.

I hope you are all well. And yes, I am suffering the longer hours too but that is OK because that just give me more time to figure how to stick to Eddie.
