I use this website to check the news regarding company I work for, also O&G, and I came across Schlumberger another day and found all the posts here so weird. Why do you guys keep working for a sh-- company like that? It is so bizarre how you guys are treated.

I love our dear shareholders. All i want is to bust my a-- everyday, including weekends, to make sure we can give them dividends and a good share price.
Where else would I go? Not many O&G employers in my local area!
This right here nailed it - "a micro-managed, politically correct crap hole" = SCHLUMBERGER. Recently I heard from a friend of mine, he tried to go back to work for these peckerwoods and the micro corruption. On day one, the Mgr wanted me to take the heat on her lost inventory that was being hidden from the books for 6 months. I choked on my coffee on that one when he told me that. He said the whole group didn't have any leadership and on day two realized all they wanted was his sales connections. He walked away. Later told me that if he was g-- and married with two kids he would of been safe back in Jan. from being laid off. I was like "whaaaaattttttt"......
If u make less than 80k, this is yhe shtty company. If you make 90k plus, welcome to the club u will have full protection even u dont do nothing. All u get to do is make a nice report.
OMG - Cameron was a great company - I wish Sclumberger would NOT of purchased us!!! But they did, now Schlumberger needs to realize all those VPs in the Helix building need to go!!
For many of the older workers, it's almost a case of being "institutionalized" not unlike long time prisoners. Was for me, 28 yrs and it pretty well becomes your life. You know the company the way it was and you hope perhaps someday the children in charge will get their heads out of their butts. They no longer desired my service and so it was easy for me.....retire. I feel sorry for my friends still there and the younger workers. Once a great company, now a micro-managed, politically correct crap hole.
Some of us only work here because our company was purchased by schlumberger. Our company was a great company to work for before the buyout. Too many years in now to quit.
Some of us also hope it returns to the company we knew. Used to be a great place!
