Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Trump to END all H1Bs - You can take that to the bank folks

Here is his EXACT quote:

"I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions,” he said." -Trump

And then to add to the fire is his newly hired Attorney General

"Sessions has railed against what he sees as the abuse of the program. In his handbook he cites statistics suggesting that guest workers make up two-thirds of all new IT hires, while half of Americans with STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic] degrees can’t find work. He says that while the cap is 85,000, the real number is much higher"

Finally, leaders who GET IT - Make American Great Again.

ACT and layoffs just proof that it's a myth the can't find Americans. There are entire groups in TMG that only fired US Citizens and Green Card holders. H1B is a cheap labor, yes man program that is abused to the max at Intel.

You can't find Americans because as another poster said our universities sold out!!! The visa system was abused on all levels.

I wouldn't put too much faith into Trumpian "exact quotes." He said a lot of outrageous stuff on the campaign to stir up the troops. He's walking back some things already.

Seems that you do not understand the system at all. There are exactly two choices:

a. go on hiring H1Bs as usual

b. eliminate jobs in US completely and transfer business to other continents

Statements of Trump et al indicate b.

how many H1B's were let go in Intel layoffs? Very few. AG should ask Intel for proof no age discrimination hsppened

My H1b new hires were pretty expensive, 120K+, I'd hire a cheap US, but sadly none willing to do the work.

Not to mention Sessions is saying he's not going to renew H1B Visas as well. They are sending them home

Idiots responding here. The reason no Americans go into STEM is because of cost o education and te H1-b holders have taken over as the labor supply. Look at all the college universities any Americans left teaching? Don't blame Americans. These universities sold out!!!

Still lost what the Visa and foreign phobia here. All the hires are highly educated technical for the most part and when intel looks to hire there rarely are any qualified US residents. It would simply be open positions going wanting or filled with educated foreigners, the second is better for the company and the US

The solution is very simple. Priority 1 and 2 visa holders stay because can't find Americans qualified. Priority 3 visa holders...move the work overseas completely.... It's how it should have been all along anyway.
