I the MOD of the AC for a while now as the regular manager is taking as much vacation. I have been a manager before and sometimes you don't ask permission. I have new employees to keep busy and I have empty shelves that will never be restocked. I was very successful with my cardboard gift bar but that game is over. I think we know the whole game is over but I have pride in how my store to not allow this to continue.
At this point, what does it really matter? I am going to tear all of that empty shelving down and get rid of the empty shelves. We might as well. I can bring tires out there to show that we still do sell something. I won't save us but at least it will the new CSA that it does matter. I have totally restructured how we are taking appointments now. It's is just going to be so much more efficient for my master tech to make more money on commission without pressure. The car comes in by appointment in the morning and he does his magic. We quote the customer and explain, if approved by the customer, the car is done by the end of the day. My express techs can do oil changes and tires. I have already structured the whole week this way. We will make money this week for the store and my master tech and he will not be as stressed out.
We are going to tear out a complete aisle and consolidate what we do have so that we have to be so embarrassed. I have to keep my FNG's busy so this a good thing. The newest FNG is really a sharp young man so he is already willing to redesign things a bit. We are just going to do it on our own because why not? He can choose ask me and he gains experience for his next job.
I enjoy teaching young people as a manager.
